Step-by-Step Running Route Guide
1. Start at Easby Abbey Parking Lot
- Begin your run at the Easby Abbey parking lot. Head west towards Richmond, passing the iconic 'Drummer Boy' statue.
2. Cross the Road Towards the Batts
- After reaching the main road, cross it safely and head southwest towards the Batts, leading up to the waterfall.
3. Waterfall and Staircase Ascent
- Continue straight past the waterfall until you encounter a staircase. Ascend the staircase, then double back along the outer castle wall.
4. Town Square and Obelisk
- Make your way up into the town square. Run past the obelisk, a notable landmark in the center of the town.
5. Past the Cricket Club to Willance's Leap
- Continue your route past the cricket club, heading northwest towards Willance's Leap. Enjoy the scenic views and local folklore associated with this spot.
6. Loop Around Willance's Leap
- Complete a loop around Willance’s Leap and then head back down through the forest. Be mindful of the farm animals along the way. You head down a steep road before coming to a path on the right which leads to the river and then through a short wooded area.
7. Cross into Round Howe and Return to Richmond Castle
- Upon reaching a busy road, cross over into Round Howe. Cross the iron bridge as you make your way back towards Richmond Castle.
8. South Side of the River Swale
- Cross the road and proceed on the south side of the River Swale. Make sure to pass underneath the green bridge.
9. Final Stretch Back to Easby Abbey
- Continue straight, crossing a final bridge, then arrive back at Easby Abbey.
